Luxury, Beauty, Status!
The Classic Flap is a hard hitter from Chanel, but contrarily to popular belief, it is not the first. In fact, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel began designing in 1910 and changed the handbag history in 1955 with the introduction of the first shoulder bag ever – the legendary Chanel 2.55.
The Classic Flap didn’t enter the scene until much later when Karl Lagerfeld stepped in as Creative Director in the 1980s. It is actually an updated version of the 2.55 with some silhouette adjustments, and the true distinctive marker – the CC turn lock closure, which replaced the Mademoiselle lock.
